The children's holidays are long (oh! so long!) and if the UK is blessed with weather like we had last year, you may be looking for a nearby body of water to take the kids. There are several options within easy reach of Ealing - time to pack your swimmers, slap on the suncream and get ready to take a dip!
RUISLIP LIDO - Only 20 minutes from Ealing by car, Ruislip Lido is a 700-acre woodland nature reserve and home to a gorgeous natural lake. Technically swimming is not allowed but there is a very sweet train that can take you around the lake.
FRENSHAM BEACH - Another unlikely beach can be found in the middle of a large common in Farnham, Surrey. Great for swimming and for building sandcastles and there's also a fantastic sculpture park within walking distance.
THREE SHELLS BEACH, ESSEX - Only an hour and a half away from Ealing (on a good day), this family friendly beach is a lovely sandy spot and near to the amusements of Southend-on-Sea.
