In Good Company: That Ealing Feeling
Ealing-philes Stuart and Meghann curate popular Instagram account That Ealing Feeling which highlights Ealing's fabulous amenities. We spoke to them about their favourite haunts in the area.
At what stage in your life did you first move to Ealing?
We moved to Ealing when we had both finished uni in 2016. One of us was working at Uxbridge and the other in central London so we looked at places in between the two. Visited Ealing one weekend and put an offer on a rental place a month later! It was love at first sight ♥️
If you were telling someone about Ealing who had never visited, how would you describe it?
It’s a town vibe, but with all the benefits of London on your doorstep! An impressive mix of old and new and some gorgeous Art Deco architecture. It’s green and beautiful with everything you need – it’s not called the Queen of the suburbs for nothin’ 👑
Do you have a favourite Ealing watering hole?
We’ve done that classic thing of not exploring the place we actually live in, so we are making it our mission to go to a new pub every Friday night - a challenge we didn’t find hard to accept! At the moment our favourite watering hole is The Fox in Hanwell. We love the garden and the walk there along the canal. They also do a tasty Sunday roast 🦊
Where have you had your best Ealing meal?
This is hard!!! Our go-to takeaway, is the Pad Thai from Saneh Thai - it has become our comfort food takeaway. For our best on-premise meal… We really love Retsina & Mousaka on the Uxbridge Road, we discovered it during eat out to help out and haven't looked back 🇬🇷
Is there a part of Ealing that you find particularly inspirational or where you find peace?
Is it a cop-out to say Walpole Park? It’s just so hard to beat with its huge expense of green, and of course Pitshanger Manor as a backdrop. Come rain or shine, you can come here to picnic, exercise, clear your head, spot a heron or drink loads of beer at the beer festival 🍺
Tell us what you're up to & what's next for you.
@thatealingfeeling has always been a fun hobby and small creative outlet for us, and we just want to keep doing what we’re doing!
