Ealing Storytime: The Rolling Stones
Another day, another Ealing storytime…
Did you know that The Rolling Stones formed after the members met at the Ealing Club, a venue in a cellar beneath a cafe in the early 60s, opposite Ealing Broadway station. (Mick and Keith already knew one another, but met the other main guys here.)
It was a pretty mega bar back in the day - Groups such as Cream, The Who, Manfred Mann, The Yardbirds, John Mayall, The Pretty Things, Fleetwood Mac, The Animals and Free all participated or were heavily influenced by the scene generated by the Ealing Club.
It’s now a nightclub called The Red Room. I tried to get in there once with a bunch of my girlfriends and they wouldn’t let us in. So I can’t comment on its current state 🤷♀️😳😂
