Ealing Stories: Steve McQueen

Did you know... The award-winning director of Twelve Years a Slave, Sir Steve McQueen, has roots right here in Ealing!

Sir Steve attended Little Ealing Primary School and Drayton Manor High School in Hanwell before continuing his studies at Ealing, Hammersmith, and West London College, focusing on A-level art.

He even revisited his Ealing schooldays for an incredible project called Year 3, collaborating to photograph all 76,000 seven-year-old pupils in London's schools. The result? Over 3,000 photographs displayed on 600 billboards across the city and an exhibition at Tate Britain from 2019 to 2021.
