Ealing Picturehouse: the launch
The other day, we had the absolute pleasure of visiting Ealing Picturehouse and experiencing it in all its splendour.
After so much anticipation and having been the butt of several hundred satirical wisecracks (there was a fair thwack of time when a large proportion of the Broadway was under development as both Lizzie Line and Filmworks projects suffered delay after delay); it was a concern that the cinema wouldn't live up to our expectations. But I have to say, those fears were immediately dispelled.
The cinema is positioned within the Filmworks complex where the old Forum Cinema used to be located, and it boasts 8 screens and 900 luxurious seats. It's large, bright and modern with designs that feature film-related details such as a Greta Gerwig bathroom and quotes from various movie royalty, as well as a well stocked bar; freshly made food; delicious coffee and the usual popcorn and treats.
The chairs are sumptuously comfy, each paired with a table in between and with the ability to recline. The screenrooms are all enormous and they're currently selling the opportunity to become an Ealing Picturehouse Founder Membership. The first 1000 customers who purchase an annual Membership for the new cinema will get their names installed in the building, on a specially commissioned Founder Members’ Wall. The Memberships will also include 15 months for the price of 12, from when the cinema opens its doors.
Our Ealing has such a rich history of film production, I'm so thrilled that that this cinema has opened and is (in my humble opinion) a really fabulous destination. Overall, a great experience and I'm so excited about what this might mean for the area. Ealing really is on the up and up.
Side note: In case you wondered, we went to see Trolls 3. The children loved it. I was particularly glad of the comfortable seat (I took the opportunity to have a wee nap).
